Ive only died hair once and it was my sisters. I did a really good job but it wasnt a drastic change. I want to go from medium brown to black... Any tips for dyeing and black hair or anything between the lines of that?How to dye your own hair? Tips for dyeing hair black?
Tip: don't go black; it will look like a wig. Do a darker brown first, and see how that looks.





Tip: it's easier to go gradually, as the permanent must grow out. My issue with hair color is the roots.





Tip: if you try a ';level 2'; or semipermanent product, you can see how you would look, and then, in 4-6 weeks when it's washed out, then you can use the ';level 3'; permanent product with more confidence.





Tip: spend the extra couple dollars. The really inexpensive product tends to dry out your hair.





Final note: my hair is now more gray than brown, so I have decided not to ever use a ';level 3'; again, as I really hate the ';skunk stripe'; during the grow-out stage.How to dye your own hair? Tips for dyeing hair black?

Put Vaseline or something waterproof on your skin around your hairline, about and inch thick, including in your ears. this is so the colour won't stain your skin.
Leave it 1/2 an inch from the scalp and ends, apply it there halfway through (these areas process faster and if you leave it on the ends the whole time they will fade much faster as well). Take really thin sections of hair (it is best to have someone dye it for you, especially if you have long hair), then take the rest in your hands like shampoo, go through it all and rub your hands together (as if trying to warm yourself up), this will work the dye through really well to make sure that you get it totally saturated, and use all of the dye.

well i dyed my hair from light brown to black. the only tip i really have for you is make sure you get all the bits of your hair covered in dye. i thought i had done it all i was really positive and then when it was dry i realised i had missed a few bits. it was only a few small pieces but it looked pretty weird so i had to dye it again.
